A List of the Marks of the Year Manufactured
There are two ways to check when a glass was manufactured,
so that at a glance you can know precisely what year your Riedel was born in.

1. Seal
The seal that contains the date of manufactuing is adhered to the glass near the
rim.

Sommeliers' 30th Anniversary

Sommeliers' 30th birthday commemorative seal. These were only applied to glasses sold in 2003.

Sommelier series

This seal is only applied to the handmade sommeliers series.
At the bottom of the seal there is a number for instance such as 07/00 which corresponds to July 2000 meaning the month and year in which the glass was created.

Vinum Extreme
Vinum Series

This seal is only for machine-made crystal glasses.
At the bottom of the seal there is a number for instance such as 08/01 which corresponds to August 2001 meaning the month and year in which the glass was created.

Wine, Ouverture, Basic series

This seal is only for machine-made goods using soda glasses.
On the right-hand side of the seal there is a number for instance such as 10/02 which corresponds to October 2002 meaning the month and year in which the glass was created.

2. The mark on the base
On the base of Riedel glasses there will definitely be this mark which signifies the year in which it was made.

Before 1995 there was no distinction between handmade and machine-made goods, and they all had the mark.
Beginning in 1996 the handmade mark, and the machine-made mark came to indicate this, but for handmade goods the mark along with the mark were stamped on the bases.
Then beggining in 2001 (only for machine-made goods) the design changed to this mark .
Half-way through 2002 they began to gradually integrate only the 'RIEDEL' mark into these glasses, and the printing of the mark soon ceased.
Instead in the middle of the base the numbers '02' or '03' meaning 2002 or 2003, respectively, came to be enscribed.
