Edo Kiriko Glass In the latter part of the Edo period the kiriko craftsmenship that began to be applied in the Oodenmacho district of Edo in the glass blowing rooms of Kyubei Kagaya was called Edo kiriko. That traditional technique has been handed down for more than 160 years from craftsman to craftsman, and many of the old techniques are employed today. Kiriko glass made by a craftsman that has the true artisan's technique cannot use a machine to give it the characteristic transparent contrast; it requires human touch.
